Muse performed yet another masterly performance, headlining at the Carling Reading Festival, UK. Before they depart for their second headline date at Leeds later this evening.
Performing tracks both new and old, they opened straight into new song "Nights in Cydonia" from their new album release, "Black Holes and Revelations". Then it was "Hysteria" followed by their top ten single release, "Supermassive black holes". The performance continued with, "Showbiz", "Map of the Problematique", and "Forced in". With highlight moments including "Bliss", "Butterflies", and the excellent "Feeling Good". The Reading crowd were at the mercy of this proficient and over-powering band, whose excellence is matched only by their expertise of sound scapes and technology.
The performance continued with new track "Invincible", the excellent new single, "Starlight", firm favourites, "Plug in baby", and "New born". Then onto, "Time is running out", "Stockholm syndrome", and finishing with "Take a bow".
The set included an impressive but minimal visual presentation, set in cubism style, that highlighted song lyrics and virtuoso guitar play from Bellamy, and the faultless drums and bass from Dominic Howard and Chris Wolstenholme. The performance relied heavily on interwoven technology, that impressively, went without the slightest hitch, another hint of the professionalism of this top quality band.
With Bellamy, twisting and writhing across the stage, screaming guitar pitch and awesome rhythms, the performance was almost too perfect! Do these guys ever make a mistake?
Muse are masters at their art, and are sure to take the US by storm, with their blend of enthralling music, and uplifting melody. Sometimes even a little too over-powering, their audiences can do nothing but submit to the force and power of their music. Already a favourite across Europe, especially France, Muse are sure to mark this as the beginning of a successful major tour.
In September they are to set off on their tour of Canada and the US. Then straight on to the European and UK legs of their Supermassive tour.
