intro

This powerhouse rock trio from Texas, burst onto the scene in the mid-eighties. With a blend of blues, Hendrix style power riffs, dual vocal harmonies, and Beatle psychedelia; it's not easy to pigeon hole this band's style, and they always surprise. Highly technical, but flowing music, this band has a live performance to match their distinguished music talents.

Biography

Ty Tabor

Pinnick and Gaskill first meet touring with the Christian rock outfit "Petra", they later meet up with Ty Tabor, (Guitar).

1980 - Touring Missouri as "The Edge", they build up a reputation playing covers in local clubs and venues.

1983 - The band changed direction and their name to "Sneak Preview". Now playing their own compositions [ ] , they were gradually building a loyal following.

1985 - Offered a recording contract, they changed base to Houston, Texas. However, their recording deal collapsed. Regardless, the band were not deterred, and continued to strive for their unique sound, perfecting their style. They were finally noticed by video producer Sam Taylor, ("ZZ Top"), who helped them finally gain a recording contract with Megaforce NY label.

1987 - The band change name again to "King's X", (suggested by Sam Taylor). They sign for Megaforce NY label.

1988 - They release their debut album, "Out of the Silent Planet", which was praised by critics, yet failed to break commercially.

1989 - With the release of "Gretchen goes to Nebraska", King's X begin to make ground with the music fans. Again praised by critics as technically stunning, the single "Over my head" was promoted on MTV. Doug Pinnock

1990 - "Faith, Hope, Love", is released, and the band tour the US and Europe supporting "AC/DC". Again this album did not fair well, and sales were not forthcoming, despite another single video "It's Love", promoted on MTV. The relationship with manager Sam Taylor was now beginning to strain.

1992 - Saw the release of the self titled, "King's X" album on Atlantic Records, and the final split with the band from former manager Sam Taylor. This album also failed to break mainstream, and the band decided it was time to re-think

1994 - "Dogman" was released on Atlantic records, the band joined forces with brilliant producer Brenden O'Brien, ("Pearl Jam", "Stone Temple Pilots", "Aerosmith", "Audioslave"). They went on to support "Pearl Jam" that year. With an excellent performance at the Woodstock festival, this may finally have been the breakthrough the band were searching for.

1996 - The pressure for commercial success was on, and saw the release of "Ear Candy", Atlantic. This still did not perform to expectations, and would be the penultimate release for King's X on Atlantic records.

1997 - Atlantic release "Best of King's X", despite dropping the band.

1998 - The band sign to Metal Blade label. Pinnock and Tabor both release their solo albums, entitled "Massive Grooves", and "Moonflower Lane", respectively. October, and King's X release their seventh studio album, "Tape Head".

2000 - The band release the album, "Please come home Mr. Bulbous".

2001 - King's X release the album, "Manic Moonlight". Pinnock continued with his solo project "Poundhound", who released their second album "Pineappleskunk" this same year. Tabor releases two former albums with prog metal group "Platypus", "When push comes to shove", and "Ice cycles".

2003 - The band released "Black like Sunday", a collection of re-recorded songs from their earlier career, (primarily from demos and bootlegs). Jerry Gaskill

2004 - King's X release their only live album to date, "Live all over the place".

2005 - September sees the triple Boxset release, comprising the albums "Tapehead", "Please come home Mr.Bulbous", and "Manic Moonlight". Also later this month the new studio album "Ogretones" is released.
